Equatorial Sundial  (see photo)

The Equatorial Sundial is the most traditional dial that I have designed. It resembles a small-scale model of the earth with the disc defining the equator and the diagonal line the earth’s axis of rotation. The diagonal acts as the shadow caster, or gnomon. In the summer months, the gnomon projects a shadow onto the top of the disc marking the time of day, and in the winter it does the same on the under side of the disc.
