In addition to Pulpits and Altar Tables, Orthodox Churches
call for several liturgical furnishings that no other Christian
denomination does. These are the Icon Screen, Royal Doors, Icon
Stands, Bishop’s Throne and Kouvouklion (a symbolic tomb of
Christ), and Ceremonial Table.
Examples of each of these can be seen among the work that I did
for St. Clement Ohridski.
I created elaborately carved bands and panels that frame the Icons
in the Icon Screen. The richly carved and gold leafed Royal Doors
open the Icon Screen to the Altar. The carvings on both the Royal
Doors and the Bishop’s Throne contain dozens of traditional
Christian symbols.
